Where: Union Station’s Great Hall: 500 West Jackson, Chicago, IL 60661
What: The Bacon, Sports & Beer Celebration is an opportunity to celebrate three of the greatest things in life. Taste samples of bacon inspired creations from over 30+ different restaurants, beer samples from 30+ craft breweries, all while in a fun, social, and sports themed environment.
Attire: When is dressing up not fun? Never. Wear your best or most random jersey or sports attire. We are going to have a photo booth and be taking pictures and videos to put on social media so rep your fandom, go hard in the paint, and have fun with it. We’ll be awarding the Bacon Bro and Bacon Babe of the celebration to the people who look the best.
What’s this sports goodness you speak of? On top of having everyone rock jerseys we are going to have Nerf games, pop-a-shot, TV’s with the games on, sports trivia, and we’ll be inviting athletes and sports personalities. We run a sports website so we are going to be adding intricate details to make this pop.
Tunes: We love bacon, sports, beer, and jerseys but we also dig music. That’s why we’ll be having a dope DJ cutting the 1′s and 2′s. In order to have a killer atmosphere good music is key.
Giving Back: We’ll be giving a minimum of $5,000 of the ticket proceeds to Chicago Cares, a Chicago based charity organization who’s volunteer programs help make Chicago a better place to live for everyone. Since 1991, Chicago Cares volunteers have completed more than 1.4 million hours of service through over 30,000 group volunteer projects.

There's really no bad way to do bacon, but there are also some amazingly creative things you can do with it. And that's what you'll find at the 5th Annual Baconfest Chicago this April. Our very own Executive Chef Derek Simcik is a four-year Baconfest veteran, and he'll be wowing Chi-town once again this year.
FEW Spirits and Atwood Café have joined forces to whip up "FEW Kids on the Block," a multi-course dinner and cocktail pairing that will give Chicagoans a chance to taste original and inventive dishes from a spoonful of the city’s most acclaimed restaurants, like Espresso Compressed Lamb Belly with Marrow Glazed Parisian Carrots and Salted Mint-Pea Ravioli, executed by Atwood Café’s Chef Derek Simcik.
Envisioned to showcase the young talent in the kitchens and behind the bars of Chicago’s renowned restaurant scene, each course will be prepared by a local chef, who is under 30 years old, and paired with a cocktail using FEW spirits created by a local bartender, also under 30. Tickets are $75 per person (inclusive of tax and gratuity). Fifty percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Chicago Food Depository.

The Green Tie Ball is Chicago Gateway Green’s signature fundraising event! The infamous gala, returning each year with a new and engaging theme, raises funds for Chicago Gateway Green’s Expressway Partnership Program, which creates and maintains beautiful, sustainable landscapes along Chicago’s major expressways thereby reducing air and noise pollution and adorning the gateways into the city’s communities.
It was first held in 1992 as a 500-person street party and is now one of the best-known charity events in Chicago, attended last year by over 2,000 people. The gala attracts Chicago’s most prominent public, political, and media figures, environmental supporters as well as young professionals and local celebrities, which are all key target markets for sponsorships.
As a child, March was never my favorite month. There were no school holidays; it was cold, but we never got much snow; and I lost an hour of sleep when it was time to "spring forward."
Of course, now that I'm older, March is actually one of my favorite months. Not only does it mark the beginning of spring, but also I got to enjoy a green beer with my corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day over the weekend.
Plus, as the chef at Atwood Cafe, I like to use the fruits and vegetables that are coming into season, such as broccoli, mango, and pineapple.
Read on for some of my very own kitchen tips and tricks. Plus...Waffle Day!
If you ask us, waffles just may be the perfect food. Please stop by for brunch on March 25 and partake in all their deliciousness. In addition to our hot and fluffy traditional and blueberry waffles, we'll be serving several specialty waffle dishes such as Chef Derek's famous chicken and waffles.
Brunch reservations are not required, but we do recommend them to avoid disappointment.
Host your next get-together at Atwood Cafe. We have everything you need to make any occasion special.
